A3 production began in the Spring of 1942 and was a result of the addition of the BMW 801 D2 engine with an improved supercharger and compression ration resulting in an increase of horsepower to 1677. The A-3 retained the same weapons package as the A-2 saw the introduction of Umrüst-Bausätze or factory conversion sets. This Tamiya 1/48 scale model depicts the mount of Hauptmann Hans 'Assi' Hahn, Gruppenkommandeur of III./JG2 1941. Hpt. Hahn was credited with 108 victories, 66 on the western front. Hahn served as a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union until 1950.
