Development of the f series airframe began in 1939 and by 1940 a new engine had been developed, DB601E. The new series of fighter incorporated many aerodynamic improvements, identifiable from the E series would be the rounded cowling and a completely redesigned wing with rounded tip. The F-2 introduced the 15mm MG151 motorkanone. This 1/48 scale was built to depict an aircraft of Stab II./JG53 out of St. Omer-Arques during the Spring of 1940
