1/35 Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer

The greatest moment modeling for me was when my nine year old son, Sean, came to me and asked if we could build a tank together! I asked him what kind of tank he would like to build and he said German, so I sat him down with a photo encyclopedia of German tanks and the Hetzer is what he picked out. I found a good deal on Eduard’s offering with the interior so I ordered it and Osprey Modeling’s Modeling the Jagdpanzer 38(t) ‘Hetzer’ by Gary Edmundson and off we went.

flat springs
low front

The only real modification done to this model was to flatten out the front set of springs. Later Hetzers had bigger front springs to compensate for the weight of the PaK 40. Early versions such as our model still used the original springs from the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t). These two photos show the relationship between the front and rear springs which should sit the front 3mm lower than the back.
